An Excellent Multi-Page Checkout

It is amazing how many otherwise well-designed sites fall down during the checkout process. HMV.co.uk wouldn’t accept my - or a colleague’s - debit card details!

I’ve long been an advocate of the “one page checkout” system, as they’re easier to use and encourage higher conversion rates. Many visitors get bored, confused, or disinterested with complex multi-page checkouts, which isn’t good for business. Check out 37signals’ 37betterFedEx for a stirling example of single page checkout design.

Still, there are always exceptions to general rules. As far as checkouts go, 101CD.com has one of the most usable multi page checkouts I’ve seen. Here’s the checkout process for a recent order of mine as a new customer:

101CD.com checkout pages: step 1
101CD.com checkout pages: step 2
101CD.com checkout pages: step 3
101CD.com checkout pages: final step
