Magento: One Sweet CMS

Someone was asking my advice the other day regarding SEO friendly e-commerce content management systems (CMS). I recommended Magento, an open source CMS that is SEO friendly straight out of the box. Minimal programming knowledge is required to get the most out of the system, indeed, Magento is ideal for people who want to stop worrying about code and start thinking more about content development and maintaining product catalogues.

One of my favourite aspects of Magento is the “single page checkout” feature. It should not be underestimated how much a multi-page checkout can reduce conversion rates. Indeed, I analysed a 6 stage checkout system for a client and noticed that the drop-off rate was over 80%! Studies have shown that single page checkouts enhance usability, increase conversion rates and, vitally, drastically improve drop-off rates.
